Do you know those little moments of wonder or happiness? They overwhelm you on the street or in nature, they are just in objects, encounters or smells. For 100 days, from May 17 to August 24, 2025, Leeuwarden UNESCO City of Literature, surprised you with literary highlights popping up all over Friesland. From short texts in the wild to the appearance of complete stories. You can still read them:

Spotting the texts required careful attention. If you wanted to receive hints and be the first to know which text was or is visible where each day, you could sign up for the special newsletter.

For the project, we asked 100 writers and poets from Fryslân, the Netherlands and UNESCO Cities of Literature all over the world to put on paper what moves them, in the form that suits them. Of course, you can find the growing collection of texts online, just like with our previous story project Happiness delayed in 2022.

In these times of great suffering in the world, we like to explore the pleasures that color our day with small delights.

Small Delights is a project of Leeuwarden UNESCO City of Literature. Small Delights was part of Arcadia, with support of Nederlands Letterenfonds, provincie Fryslân and gemeente Leeuwarden.
