From 17 May to 24 August 2025, Leeuwarden UNESCO City of Literature will surprise you for 100 days with literary highlights that pop up all over Friesland. From short texts in the wild to the appearance of complete stories. We need your help with a few manifestations!
Leeuwarden City of Literature is organising Small Delights in the programme of cultural festival Arcadia. During the first edition of Arcadia in 2022, we brought Happiness Delayed. A hundred garden owners helped us to make it a success. For Small Delights, we work together with artists, small and large organizations and we are still looking for people for a few expressions, namely:
* someone who is open to a literary tattoo;
* someone with a wall or outdoor staircase for applying a text;
* several people whose house/building can be a signboard for a day.
About Small Delights
We asked 100 writers and poets from Friesland, the Netherlands and UNESCO Cities of Literature all over the world to put on paper what moves them, in the form that suits them. Contributions include those from Thomas Heerma van Voss, Anne-Goaitske Breteler, Tsead Bruinja, Marjoleine de Vos, Yorick Goldewijk and Elisa Shua Dusapin. Their texts – and those of 94 other authors – can appear anywhere. Click below and find out how you can sign up for a special newsletter with hints!
Small Delights is a project of Leeuwarden UNESCO City of Literature. Small Delights is part of Arcadia, with support of Nederlands Letterenfonds, provincie Fryslân and gemeente Leeuwarden.
