“Jonge Schrijvers” (young writers) starts again! The writing course of production house Explore the North and Meeuw (theater company of young performers) starts on 4 October. After a successful two-year pilot, Jonge Schrijvers will now be structurally continued by both organizations. The writing course gives young people the opportunity to develop – under the guidance of inspiring young writing teachers – in writing texts for theater, literature, music and poetry. They can register from now on.
Jonge Schrijvers is for young people from the age of 14 who like to write. Stories, poems or even theater texts. During the writing course of Explore the North and Meeuw, they are given the opportunity to write more often and learn how they can improve. Together with young, professional teachers, participants will play with words, language and text. In an inspiring series of seven lessons they learn how to write texts; from poetry to short story and from theater text to spoken word.
Lessons from inspiring writers
Participants receive biweekly lessons from experienced teachers who themselves are active as professional writers. Wessel de Vries is a writer of theater texts and skilled in both the Dutch and the Frisian language. Yentl van Stokkum is a writer of prose, poetry and theater texts. She also develops podcasts.
Performances at various festivals
The writing lessons form the basis for various performances, so the work of the young writers gets a stage. Previous work by Jonge Schrijvers has been presented during the festivals Oerol and Explore the North.
Registration now open
The kick-off of Jonge Schrijvers will be on Sunday 4 October, after which the participants will have biweekly lessons on Wednesday evening. The lessons take place in De Westerkerk, Bagijnestraat 59 in Leeuwarden.
