Marrit Jellema’s term will end soon, therefore the Municipality of Leeuwarden is looking for a new city poet.
The Municipality of Leeuwarden is seeking someone who observes, listens, and gives words to what lives in the community. Someone who writes about special events, but also about everyday moments, societal developments, and stories that perhaps are not heard on their own.
You will write at least 6 poems per year and recite them at public occasions. The municipality asks you to develop a project plan that:
- Makes poetry and word art visible
- Creates connection with residents and communities
- Gives space to the multilingualism and diversity of Leeuwarden – not only the city, but also the 35 villages of the municipality
Besides the challenge and eternal fame, there is a financial compensation of €4,000 per year.
