Enjoying stories together enriches life, and literature has a beneficial effect. That is why Leeuwarden UNESCO City of Literature and De Culturele Apotheek started Mei-inoar lêze (shared reading) in libraries, bookshops and other locations throughout Fryslân.
Mei-inoar lêze is not a classic reading club or book club. Anyone can join and there is no preparation or prior knowledge needed. The texts will be handed out on the spot and read aloud, in Dutch or Frisian. Those who want to, can respond to the texts. What do the words say? What do they do to you? Does the text affect you? Do you recognise anything?
With Mei-inoar lêze it is all about the connection between literature and everyday life. Memories, associations, emotions and thoughts make for great conversations. Mei-inoar lêze is a free activity. We will have coffee and tea ready for you.
