As part of the European LIT UP project to promote literature in lesser used languages, a series of free online training modules will be published over the next few years.

These modules deal with various aspects of (international) book promotion. The English-taught training modules are intended for everyone who is active in the literary field; publishers, writers, translators and editors in particular, but also booksellers, librarians and literature students can benefit from it.

In the first module, which can be followed from May 1st onwards on the digital learning platform Moodle, you’ll learn about preparing for book fairs (national and international), the work to be done during such an event and the work following an event; how to convert contacts into sales or purchases of works.

The other three training modules will become available in 2023, 2024 and 2025. They will deal with how to make the most of literary promotional events such as festivals, fairs and other cultural activities, and with foreign rights practice; how exactly does managing and negotiating foreign rights work?

Each module takes about 20 hours in total, with both live workshops and lectures, as well as self-study. Participants can choose which module(s) is/are most interesting to them and follow these separately.

You can register for the first training via this form, then you will soon receive a username and access to the online learning environment and available materials. More information can be found on the website of the LIT UP project.
