The 59th Durango Book and Music Market took place in the Basque Durango from 5 to 8 December. Writers Syds Wiersma and Gerard Marcel de Jong went there as part of the LIT-UP project. Syds Wiersma took part in a conversation with Slovenian writer Jedrt Malezic and Valencian publisher Núria Sendra, led by Basque publisher Garazi Arrula.
Gerard de Jong made valuable contacts with various Basque publishers to see whether his debut novel Blauw fan dagen, griis fan ônrust, which is partly set in the Basque Country, can also be published in Basque.
The Durango Book and Music Market attracts around 100,000 visitors each year. It is a market for the general public with numerous activities, signing sessions and a wide range of books, audio media and music.
