The Diet Huber Prize goes to Skelte Siweris Braaksma for his Frisian graphic novel Redbad. Redbad depicts the life of the illustrious King Redbad, based on the novel Rêdbâd by Willem Schoorstra. The jury unanimously selected the young adult comic book. The 2025 Diet Huber Prize will be awarded to Skelte Braaksma on November 6th at Tresoar in Leeuwarden.

The triennial Diet Huber Prize for the best illustrated Frisian children’s and young adult book was established by the “Stifting Frysk Letterkundich Museum en Dokumintaasjsintrum” (FLMD). The prize is named after Diet Huber (1924-2008), a Frisian children’s book author and illustrator known for the frequently reprinted Tutte mei de linten. The winner receives 2,000 euros and a certificate. The first prize winner was Mirjam van Houten with her book By beppe útfanhûs.
