Tartu UNESCO City of Literature invites writers and translators to apply for a 2-month residency from April to May 2026. The residency coincides with the Tartu International Literary Festival Prima Vista (May 11-16), themed True and False, exploring the borderlands between humans and technology, nature and culture, and reality and imagination.

The residency offers accommodation in the historic Karl Ristikivi apartment, a monthly scholarship of €600, travel reimbursement up to €350, and opportunities to engage with Tartu’s vibrant literary scene. Residents will participate in festival events and connect with local writers and cultural institutions.

Who can apply: Writers and translators (translating from Estonian to other languages) with at least one published book, screenplay, theatre script, or translation. Applicants should have upper intermediate English skills and an interest in Estonian culture and literature.
