In the lead-up to the 2026 edition of Verhalenavond (Storytelling Night), Storytelling-workshops will be organized with writer and NRC columnist Christiaan Weijts. The central questions: What makes a story unforgettable? And how do you find the story that only you can tell?
Participants will explore the core of their own story and learn how to tell it in a compelling way. Attention will be given to elements such as structure, building tension, and presentation. The workshops align with the theme of Storytelling Night 2026: ‘Mijn Roots – Myn Woartels’. Which memories, family stories, places or events have shaped you? And how do you turn them into a story that resonates with others?
The workshops are an excellent preparation for anyone who might want to share their own story during Storytelling Night on Friday, November 20, but they are also open to anyone who simply wants to improve their storytelling skills. There’s no need to prepare a story in advance. Participation is free. You can sign up for one of the workshops at verhalenavond.nl.
