Have you always wanted to write an exciting story but don’t know where to start? During this three-part workshop with thriller writer Erik Betten (pseudonym Rifka Faber), you’ll learn how to build a thriller and turn an idea into a good story.

Erik takes you step by step through the structure of an exciting story. You’ll learn how to construct a plot, build suspense and shape characters and storylines. At the end, you’ll go home with new knowledge, a developed plot and the first steps of your own story.

Programme

  • Lesson 1 – 28 May: Laying the foundation with inspiration, genre, basic structure
  • Lesson 2 – 11 June: Building up with opening, characters, maintaining suspense
  • Lesson 3 – 18 June: The finishing touch with climax, publishing, further development

Each session lasts approximately two hours: work discussion, explanation and instruction, discussion. Between lessons you work on your story at home.

This workshop is an excellent stepping stone to the writing competition during the Thriller Weeks.
