At the invitation of the Heerenveen Literary Activities Foundation, Marente de Moor is coming to Heerenveen. Marente won the AKO Literature Prize in 2011 and the European Prize for Literature (2014) for her novel De Nederlandse maagd (2010). Her work has been translated into sixteen languages and received very positive reviews from the international press. Her mother is writer Margriet de Moor.
During the period 1991-2001, Marente lived eight years in Russia where she studied at drama school. She also wrote articles and a weekly column for De Groene Amsterdammer during this time.
Her books are: De overtreder (2007), De Nederlandse maagd (2010), Roundhay, tuinscene (2013), Gezellige verhalen (2015), Foon (2018) and De schoft (2023).
