Ype Poortinga (1910-1985) collected many Frisian folk tales. About two thousand stories have been published in seven large books with beautiful titles like “It fleanend skip,” “De held en de draek,” and “It gouden skaakspul.” For years, he visited storytellers every week with his DAF to record stories. This audio collection has been digitized by the Frisian Film & Audio Archive and will soon be available to everyone. In this way, dozens of storytellers will get their voices back. Who knows, maybe your grandmother or grandfather will be among them, and you can hear their voices again after all these years?

Stories must be heard! That’s why there’s a festive launch of the audio collection of Frisian folk tales at Tresoar on Sunday, November 2nd. Contemporary storytellers Aggie Meijer, Alexander Moto, Tamara Feddema, and Kees de Vries will perform short stories. Willem de Vries (also known as Willem Waldpyk) will host the event. Come along and be transported into the wonderful world of fairy tales, humorous stories, and legends.

This afternoon is organized by Tresoar in collaboration with the Frisian Film and Audio Archive.

More information about the program on Sunday, November 2nd will follow soon. The festive launch is free. However, you have reserve a ticket on the website of Tresoar.
