Explore the North Festival is a three-day journey through unconventional art and culture. With stories in many forms: dance, music, poetry, spoken word and more. The festival transforms beautiful locations in the historic city centre of Leeuwarden into meeting places for artists and audiences. A festival where experimental performances, live concerts and literary performances meet.
The first artists are announced. Club Guy & Roni, Boris Acket and HIIIT present The Current, a new performance in which visitors become part of an alternative reality. Dance, live percussion and electronic music blend together. Actress Sarah Janneh (known from Wie is de Mol) is part of the cast.
From Sweden come musician and spoken word artist Joshua Idehen and the choir XTC in the XIV to Friesland. Also on the programme: a new performance by Leeuwarden poet and spoken word artist Mees van Rijswijk, and the world premiere of All Real Living is Meeting by Esmé van den Boom (former City Poet of Groningen).
