In the ‘Slauerhoff Garden’ of Van der Velde bookshop, a lively gathering takes place, dedicated to the renowned Leeuwarden writer Jan Slauerhoff. This happens in three different ways:

  • Evert Duintjer Tebbens (chairman of the Jan Slauerhoff Memorial Foundation) presents the book De wereld is niet genoeg (The World Is Not Enough) with contributions from speakers at last summer’s mini-festival ‘Slauerhoff and Portugal’. The presentation will be accompanied by fado music.
  • Additionally, freelance journalist and Arabist Sietske de Boer interviews writer Luuk Imhann about his novel Het inferno van Slauerhoff (Slauerhoff’s Inferno, 2025), which is largely set in Tangier, Morocco.
  • Finally, an auction will be held of a unique collection from Slauerhoff’s oeuvre. Bubb Kuyper, founder of the largest auction house for books, manuscripts and works on paper in the Netherlands, will act as auctioneer.

The afternoon will be led by Evert Duintjer Tebbens.

Free admission.
