The winner of the Libris Literature Prize comes to Friesland this summer.
About his book Aan het einde van de oorlog: Eleven-year-old Ernst, son of SS-Obersturmführer Karl Zehlendorf, goes missing near a concentration camp. His brother Reinhart claims to have left him on the shore of the treacherously deep lake where they were fishing. Surely he didn’t fall in the water? While the Allied armies can already be heard in the distance and everyone in the camp realizes that the end of the war is near, Karl sets out to search.
