One of the Netherlands’ best-known and most widely read authors is coming to Drachten! Annejet van der Zijl will talk about her latest book De zwevende wereld, a dual biography of German physician Franz von Siebold and his Japanese daughter Kusumoto Oine.
Over her 25-year writing career, Van der Zijl has published seven non-fiction books, all of which became bestsellers and were widely awarded, translated and adapted for film. She has received honours including the Golden Quill (Gouden Ganzenveer) and the Amsterdam Prize for the Arts. In 2020, she wrote the Book Week Gift Leon & Juliette, and in 2023 she was reading ambassador for the Netherlands Reads campaign with Sonny Boy.
