Poet and translator Syds Wiersma has been selected for the LIFF writing project, organised by Literature Wales. From 17 to 31 May, fourteen authors from various European countries will gather at the Tŷ Newydd Writing Centre. Five of them are from Wales itself. The group will collaborate, write (of course) and also go out. The focus is on landscape, ecology, community and minor languages.
The project will conclude with a visit to the Hay-on-Wye Festival, where literary events are held and the participating writers can let their poetry and other literary texts be heard. On the last day, they will visit London. They have been invited to give a performance at EUNIC London (European Union National Institutes for Culture). The Dutch embassy, which is funding part of Syds Wiersma’s trip and stay, is also a member of EUNIC.
