Kuhmo UNESCO City of Literature (Finland) is organizing a writing competition with the question: what does your mother language mean to you? The competition is open to young writers between the ages of 15 and 21, living in a UNESCO City of Literature*.
The winner of the writing competition receives a prize of €400 and can present the text during a literary event in Kuhmo. The winners of the second and third prizes will receive a book package. The 10 best texts are collected in an exhibition.
What should you do?
Write a text of 800-1500 words that answers the following questions:
– What is your mother language?
– What does your mother language mean to you?
– How has your mother language shaped your identity?
– What is the most beautiful word in your mother language and why?
You can choose the form of your text yourself. Write two versions: one version in your native language and one version in English. Submit your work before March 29.
