The Gjalp is an open call for writers and poets. Submitters stand a chance of publication as well as a presentation at various festivals, such as the Dudeljo festival in Lauwersoog and Meet me at the Lighthouse on Schiermonnikoog.
This year, the Gjalp focuses on submissions with the theme The Wadden. Makkers can submit a poem or an idea for a festival production. The poem (or series of poems) may be selected for performance at literary festivals in the Wadden region. For the Gjalp ‘production’, writers are being sought with ideas for a literary festival production. The form is entirely free. From a performance with language, and from music to an animation experiment: anything is possible, as long as Frisian (or a regional language) and the literary, musical, and the theatrical interlock.
