The birthplace of writer Piet Paaltjens will receive a plaque. His real name was François HaverSchmidt (1835-1894). He was born at Voorstreek 80 and wrote the famous poetry collection Snikken en Grimlachjes.
The official unveiling will be performed by Prof. Marita Mathijsen, specialist in nineteenth-century literature and culture and author of various leading publications. She is currently writing a biography about François HaverSchmidt.
On the occasion of the unveiling, Johannes Keekstra will give a presentation. He wrote Onder Frieslands grauwe hemel and the play Grauwe Hemel about HaverSchmidt’s years as a minister in Foudgum. In 2022, he played François HaverSchmidt in this play and returns for this special occasion.
