A silent book club on the Oldehove? It sounds like a crazy dream, but it’s becoming reality. This summer you are invited to climb up, find a nice spot on the roof of Leeuwarden’s leaning landmark and enjoy coffee while reading silently for an hour. All with the most beautiful view of the city!
The Oldehove opens at 09:30. There is a lift to the first floor, but from there you reach the roof only by stairs. Once at the top, you can order something delicious at Fer Koffie and find your spot.
Between 10:00-11:00 you read in silence. There are some bean bags, but bring your own picnic blanket, stool, camping chair or thick cushion to make yourself comfortable. Between 11:00-12:00 you chat with your neighbour about your books, enjoy another cappuccino, or start your descent.
Admission is free. A maximum of 45 people can go up – first come, first served! Fully booked is fully booked. The event is not wheelchair accessible. Toilet on the ground floor.
This Silent Book Club is organised by Visit Leeuwarden, Tresoar, Annies Boekenhoek and Fer Koffie.
On 9 August there is another Silent Book Club on the Oldehove. Then Henk Rigter will briefly tell about his book Dwars door Afrika. Books are available for purchase on site.
