Poetry in De Bres takes place for the 55th time – and this time entirely in Frisian. Since March 2007, De Bres has organised this event, and now the theatre presents a fully Frisian-language programme with poets, spoken word artists from different regions of Friesland and the fantastic Frisian orchestra.
The programme is accessible yet of high quality. Alongside renowned Frisian poets, emerging talents also perform. The poets on this evening are Syds Wiersma, Sigrid Kingma, Edwin de Groot, Lara Kool, Gabriële Terpstra, Albert Schaafsma, Remco Kuiper, Aafke Koster and Aggie Meijer (accompanied by Ruben Bus), together with the Orkest foar Siken en Seelju under the direction of Klaas Kasma. The presentation is conducted by Melvin van Eldik.
After the event there is an opportunity for a drink and a chat. Collections of the work of the performing poets are available for purchase and can be signed.
A curious, convivial and – above all – entertaining programme.
