In this exhibition cultural historic centre De Tiid in Bolsward honors the life and work of Aggie van der Meer (1927–2023), one of the most prominent voices in Frisian literature. With her sharp pen, idiosyncratic look and deep humanity, she gave color to the literary landscape of Fryslân and beyond.

Aggie always wrote novels, plays, essays and poems in Frisian, always with passion. She was known for her social commitment, her poetic power and her ability to bring big themes such as war, faith, love and justice back to the personal and human.

In 2019, her literary work was awarded the Gysbert Japicxpriis, the highest award in Frisian literature. A crowning achievement of an impressive writer’s life.

The exhibition takes you along her life, work and ideals. With the help of handwritten texts, photos, personal objects and fragments from her oeuvre, you not only get to know the writer, but also the person behind the words: free-thinking, involved and tirelessly curious.

Let yourself be inspired by the voice of a woman who wrote as she lived; with courage and love.
