Acclaimed writer Connie Palmen comes to Bibliotheek Heerenveen for an extensive interview. She talks about her life, her work and the themes that recur throughout her books.
Her latest book Johnnie Walker is central to the discussion. There is also attention to her broad literary oeuvre and her significance for Dutch literature. Connie Palmen debuted with The Laws. She then wrote many novels and essays in which philosophy, literature and personal experience come together. Themes such as truth and fiction, body and mind, love, loss and identity play an important role in her work.
For her novel You said it, about Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath, she received the Libris Literature Prize. Her entire oeuvre was awarded the Constantijn Huygens Prize.
