Xavière Heeremans presents her book Waar de lucht breekt, in which she follows herself and eight other survivors of sexual abuse. The book explores what happened, how their lives have developed after rape, and how they live now.
She conducts open conversations with the interviewees about who they have become, how they relate to love, and what their experiences with the legal system have been. They also reflect on the ‘why’ and what it brings to speak with the perpetrator. Poems and art from the interviewees complete the book.
This interactive presentation invites discussion about the disruptive impact of sexual violence in society – a topic that concerns us all.
