The latest adventure of the Gruffalo family is being released worldwide simultaneously in 37 languages—including in Frisian!
On Thursday September 10, 2026, the newest book about the Gruffalo family, Gruffalo Granny, is being launched globally. The picture book by Macmillan Children’s Books is being released at the same time in various countries and in no fewer than 37 languages. The Frisian edition, titled Beppe Gruffalo, is being published today by Afûk.
As part of the global launch, there is a special charitable initiative. Publishers are donating 10% of their print run to a good cause. Therefore, Afûk is donating 100 copies of the Frisian edition Beppe Gruffalo to the Toy Banks in Friesland.
Afûk chose the Toy Banks in Friesland as the beneficiary for this Frisian initiative. There are locations in Heerenveen (Toy Bank Heerenveen) and Sneek (Toy Bank Friesland). Both Toy Banks are very pleased with the donation.
Anna Petra van der Wal from the Heerenveen location says: “Every year, we have a St. Nicholas action where we visit families with small gifts. Being able to include this new picture book this year is absolutely fantastic!”
At the Sneek location, the donation is also warmly welcomed. Ina Hofman says: “I read aloud with great pleasure, and it’s so important for children to develop a love for books at a young age. Being able to give them such a beautiful picture book as a gift is wonderful!”
