Young Frisian writers Raymond Muller and Aristote Bofunda Gemale have a place in a national process for young theater writers: #NieuweStukken.

#NieuweStukken is an initiative of the Fonds Podiumkunsten and the Nederlands Letterenfonds. Muller and Gemale are embarking on an eight-month talent development program with eight other writers across the country.

Both young authors were nominated by the Explore The North festival in Leeuwarden, now one of the five partners of in the project. Mark Hospers of Explore The North is happy that his festival is involved in this national project.

Now we are getting somewhere here

“Now we are getting somewhere here. People are noticing what is happening here, sector-wide, in our collaboration with City of LiteraturedbiebDichter bij Leeuwarden, and Tresoar.”

Gemale, from Congo, studies at the Academie voor Popcultuur and is working on a performance about his own history and his relationship with Friesland under the auspices of Explore The North and the production house, Popfabryk. Muller is also active as an actor and writes in Dutch and Frisian.
