Adventurous and intimate live-experience on your doorstep. Corona proof!

The new location performance Nacht (Night) from Tryater starts online, with a one-on-one live sequel at the front door. At some point, each character travels to an address in the province to continue the performance live – at the front door. Which character comes to the door is a surprise.

With this, Tryater plays very close to the audience, an anchor point of the company and also a special feature in this time. The performance – which is directed by Tatiana Pratley and Sjoeke Marije Wallendal – will take place from 9 April to 1 May, all over Fryslân.

In the past year we have been at home a lot and we sleep worse. Sometimes it feels like we have ended up in an endless night. In Night you will be lifted out of everyday reality by, among others, Joke Tjalsma, Nynke Heeg, Bart Harder, Aukje Schaafsma, Eva Meijering.

Nacht

The day is drawing to a close. Silence passes over Fryslân. A nurse, a woman who comes out for the first time in a long time, a journalist: they are all on the road at night. Why aren’t they sleeping? And what are they doing outside so late?

Each character’s journey begins online and ends at a front door. In unique monologues they confide in the audience about what keeps them awake. They witness their tragicomic dreams, desires, doubts and fears. They comfort you into the night. So that everything becomes lighter.

Online and live: corona proof

Due to the constant measures surrounding theater attendance, Tryater found herself forced to change plans in the short term for a location production that will premiere on April 9. A completely corona-proof concept has been devised, which is close to the original version in terms of content, but changes completely in form.

For the new version, a way has been sought that fits within the current measures and that is in line with the concept of the original version of Nacht. The characters will continue to exist in the new version.

Close to the public

With Nacht, Tryater literally brings theater to the audience, a form that fits the theater-making style of artistic director Tatiana Pratley. Tatiana is thus building on the tradition of the company: Tryater has had an intricate network of play areas and audiences in the province since the beginning of its existence, more than 55 years ago.

Turnaround

The original version of Nacht would take place in and on a parking garage in Leeuwarden. The audience would experience the performance partly over the car radio, partly on the roof of the garage. But the current situation required otherwise. With the new form of Nacht, Tryater has found a way to bring the performance to the public

In these monotonous times there is a need for poetry, imagination and connection. The live aspect of the performance, personal and intimate, is an extra; this way Tryater can keep in touch with the public.

In this performance Tatiana Pratley works with a makers collective that we will see again in the coming years.
