Ten writers were inspired by the theme of the Tryater performance Night.

This year we spent a lot of time at home and slept less.
Sometimes it feels like we are stuck in an endless night.

Tryater and Omrop Fryslân work together in Radio Moanneljocht. In the context of Tryater Rûnom – program around performances – writers will present their own work every evening from 3 to 12 May after the news from midnight on Omrop Fryslân Radio. In ten short episodes, the writers show their own written texts to put us in the moonlight. The stories / poems (6 Frisian and 4 Dutch) are inspired by the theme of the Tryater performance Night.

A broadcast at that late hour gives the listener a moment to watch the moon and reflect on the night. Iris Dicke, Hedwig Louise Bakker, Marijke Huisman, Remco Kuiper, Nelleke Wouters, Pieteke de Boer, Jeannette Boskma, Ydwine van der Veen, Ytsje Hoekstra and Roelien Klandermans had questions such as “How does the night smell? How does the night sound? What do you think about before going to bed? And what does the moon see when it looks down?”

The moon has always evoked magic. What would it look like there? Can you live there? When the day comes to an end, when silence falls over Friesland, the moon looks at us. Radio Moanneljocht shines its light on people in the dark night. What keeps you awake?

The writers turned their observations into a poem for the neighbor with sleeping problems, a song for the sex worker or an ode to the pizza deliverer. With these creative language expressions Radio Moanneljocht wants to get people out of everyday reality.

On 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 May there will be extra performances of Nacht.

For everyone who lives outside the Frisian mainland and does not want to miss Nacht and for anyone who for any other reason cannot or does not want to receive an actor at the door, there is a fully online version of Nacht on Saturday and Sunday evening 8 and 9 May
