The 2021 Book Week has been rescheduled to take place from 29 May – Sunday June 6.  The Book Week gift from Hanna Bervoets – along with a Frisian translation by Baukje Sijlstra – and the Book Week essay from Roxane van Iperen can finally be read throughout the country.  To keep the streets from crowding and keep everyone safe while shopping, the publications will be available for the entire month of June.

CPNB Director, Eveline Aendekerk: “Finally we can go back to the bookstore.  Readers have waited months and months for this moment, and now that stores are back open, it’s high time to plan a long-awaited bookstore party.  I am sure that the fantastic Book Week gift and essay are well worth the wait and that a lot of readers will enjoy the summer-full of reading to come.  We are delighted to be able to organize this year’s Book Week – the biggest book festival – and call on everyone to continue to support their favorite bookstores.”

Book Week gift in Dutch and Frisian

With every purchase of € 15.00 or more on books, shoppers will receive a Book Week gift, Wat wij zagen (What we saw) by Hanna Bervoets. This year’s gift will also be available in Frisian, made in collaboration with Boeken fan Fryslân and translated by Baukje Zijlstra under the title Wat wy seagen. During Book Week 2021 (and throughout the whole of June), you can therefore choose between the Dutch or Frisian versions of this year’s Book Week gift!
