From 17 to 24 November, the short story Biografie van een Vlieg (biography of a fly) can be read by everyone on 25 posters in Leeuwarden. Writer, poet and theater maker Jaap Robben wrote the short story especially for Explore the North and the literary festival Wintertuin in Nijmegen. With the city as a backdrop, everyone, young and old, can read the story in the open air.

Biografie van een Vlieg is a Dutch story about discovery, friendship and transience. It is written for all ages and can be read for free via a walking or cycling route. With this new and special form of publishing, the city forms the backdrop for a story and all residents become readers. In Leeuwarden festival Explore the North has reserved 26 places, 25 chapters and a cover, for the story. The chapters can be read separately, but it is also possible to follow a route and read all chapters one by one. The route map can be downloaded from explore-the-north.nl from 11 November. Wintertuin2020 in Nijmegen, the initiator of the project, will present the story from 5 to 29 November.

Jaap Robben

Jaap Robben (1984) is a writer, poet and theater maker. Jaap does not write specifically for an age, but for everyone in particular. From DWDD Book of the Month to the Dutch Bookstore Award and from book adaptations to many translations: Jaap has it all to his name.

Audio walk and podcast

Jaap Robben has recorded each chapter as an audio file. For example, the story can also be listened to as an audiobook and visitors can play the corresponding audio file on their phone for each poster. The files can be found from 11 November on explore-the-north.nl. In addition, from the beginning of December the podcast Het grote verhaal (the big talk) can be listened to via the websites of Explore the North and Wintertuin, in which Jaap goes into depth in an hour and a half.
