On Saturday 12 September, the Frisian-language historical comic book “it Blauwe Hûs” (the blue house) by cartoonist Skelte Siweris Braaksma will be presented. It is part of the Heritage Day in and around the monumental St. Vitus Church in Blauwhuis. The book – suitable for all ages – was made by Braaksma on behalf of the Jubilee Committee 150 years of Saint Vitus Church and the municipality of Súdwest-Fryslân.

‘It Blauwe Hûs’ tells about the origins of the village of Blauwhuis over the centuries on the basis of two characters. It is about floods, reclamation and war, but also about school, church, carnival and fair. The landscape changes throughout the book and it clearly shows that time has not stood still here.

Program

The program lasts from 10 am to 10.45 am. Welcome at 9.45 am with coffee and cake. Then: interview with cartoonist Skelte Siweris Braaksma, presentation of the first copy, signing and sale of the book (for € 10 / after September 12 € 14.95). Musical contribution: Pastor Peter van der Weide and Jan Kuipers. Free entrance.
