“Spot aan!” (Lights on!) is the theme of the National Children’s Book Week 2026.
We’re hitting the boards! By reading books, you can experience all sorts of things. One moment you’re a famous singer singing your heart out during a sold-out concert, and the next someone who has the whole class laughing with a good joke. You’ll find stage performers of all kinds in children’s books! Front or back stage, with or without stage fright. The Children’s Book Week 2026 is your chance to perform – in your head or in real life! Sing a song, dance, act, or… This Children’s Book Week is one big open stage.
From September 30 to October 11, you can join special activities at various libraries and bookstores in the province. A youth subscription for the library is free, so you can borrow books at no cost.
During Children’s Book Week from September 30 to October 11, you’ll receive the Children’s Book Week Gift as a gift from your bookstore with the purchase of €13.50 worth of children’s books. The Children’s Book Week Gift is written by Milouska Meulens and is called Back to the Shoe Tree. With this book, you can also get a day trip to the amusement parks Hellendoorn or Drievliet!
