Writer and illustrator Harmen van Straaten comes to Bibliotheek Drachten! To celebrate his 40-year career, he talks about his books, illustrations and his latest children’s book Herrie in de tent, the Picture Book of Children’s Book Week 2026.
Van Straaten has illustrated hundreds of children’s books and written over fifty books himself for children of different ages. Well-known titles include Spuit Elf, Hé, wie zit er op de wc? and Super Jan. During this special meeting, he tells how his stories and illustrations came to be, reflects on forty years of writing and there is of course also an opportunity to ask questions.
