On Saturday, November 28, writer Tialda Hoogeveen will talk about her successful book “De geur van hooi” (The smell of hay) in the library of her hometown Gorredijk.
The lecture takes place in the context of Nederland Leest, which has as theme this year: Small history, big stories. Based on the life story of farmer Siebe Peenstra, “De geur van hooi” sketches the Dutch agricultural history of the past 100 years and thus fits nicely into the theme. Sa! editor-in-chief Arend Waninge presents the afternoon. Bookstore Planteyn is present with book sales.
After his retirement, farmer Siebe Peenstra (1923-2019) depicted his farming life in paintings, a selection of which can be seen in the Gorredijk Library until 30 November.
There is limited space at the lecture, prior (free) registration is required.
