In the summer issue of the literary magazine Sinn und Form, four poems by Eeltsje Hettinga have been published in a German translation. It is the first time that this quality magazine has included work from Friesland.

Sinn und Form is a bimonthly magazine for international literature, published by the Akademie der Künste in Berlin. Authors such as Peter Handke, Stefan Heym and Else Lasker-Schüler write and wrote for the magazine. Contacts with the editor-in-chief of Sinn und Form were made at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2019, where the Frisian publishers have had a stand for a number of years. The publication can be regarded as a serious acknowledgment of the work of Eeltsje Hettinga.

Hettinga was poet laureate in Fryslân in 2018 and 2019. He published five collections of poetry. His debut Akten fan winter (1998) was awarded the Fedde Schurer Prize of the province of Fryslân. His collection Ikader was nominated for the Gysbert Japicxpriis 2013. Eeltsje Hettinga is currently preparing to settle in Antwerp for a certain period of time, to write new work there.
