Every year, Leeuwarden UNESCO City of Literature invites writers from abroad for a residency in the city, and writers from Fryslân go on residency to other cities. In november 2024, Eduard Olesti from Catalonia lives and workes in Leeuwarden.

Eduard Olesti (Barcelona, 1995) is a Catalan writer and stage director. He has published the novel Gossos dempeus (Club Editor), and two books of poetry, Un cowboy crepuscular (Ausiàs March Award, 2023) and Sarcop (Amadeu Oller Award, 2022).

As a director and playwright, he has worked in individual and collective works such as Barcelona Ratafia (Paral·lel 62), CAÍN loops i did it again (Antic Teatre at Grec 2024), Shrek, kebabs i la sexualitat de Joan Brossa (Fundació Joan Brossa), Rentadora gira mundial (Nau Ivanow) and No tenim ni idea de què és el teatre (FAT). He has also worked as a curator, scriptwriter, translator, rhapsodist and performer. His work has been considered direct, bold and stark.
