The poetry cards we developed for nursing homes gave us the inspiration to join “Fryslân fan boppen”, where our province is filmed from the air. We asked the Typesetters – a collective known for their poetic texts in public space – to put a fragment of a poem at Mienskipssintrum Leppehiem in Akkrum.
The Typesetters chose the first two lines from the poem “Ik dreamde my in tún” (I dreamed myself a garden) by Baukje Wytsma. Based on a pre-made design, they applied the lines of poetry with chalk paint. Watched by curious (and enthusiastic) residents of Leppehiem, from their balconies and from behind windows.
On Tuesday 28 April, the drones of “Fryslân fan boppen” (an initiative of the Frisian municipalities and Leeuwarden-Fryslân 2028 in collaboration with Leeuwarder Courant and Omrop Fryslân) made recordings of the ‘Merenroute’ (route of the lakes) and also flew over Akkrum. The recordings can be viewed online.
