Since the start of the lockdown, every night when darkness falls somewhere in Leeuwarden a text appears on a building. Theater maker Karina Kroft and technical designer Remko Smids constantly change another bare wall into a temporary piece of art. The same evening the photos are shared with #leeuwardenprojections via social media and on their website.

Leeuwarden UNESCO City of Literature recently started helping the duo on a modest scale by supplying quotes from Frisian poets. The project – which Kroft and Smids started on their own initiative – can also count on a financial contribution.

Karina Kroft is a theater maker with a predilection for location theater. She makes repertoire pieces accessible to a wide audience and does not shy away from the more difficult subjects. Remko Smids works as a technical designer and focuses on video projection and inventive ways to use it.
