On October 3, 2020, Geart Tigchelaar’s latest collection of poems, entitled Ommers (After all), will be presented in Jorwert. It’s an event in the evening together with fellow poet Elmar Kuipers, who will release his collection Wite Mûle, Swarte Molke.

In the run-up to the presentation, pre-publications will be placed on the Instagram account @om.mers. The first poem will be published on Wednesday, August 26. Tigchelaar has previously published prose poems on the website of Dichterskollektyf RIXT and thus discovered that the form of these poems is extremely suitable for posting on social media. The poet hopes that his work will be accessible to a wider audience in this way.

The collection, published by Hispel, is his first with only prose poems. They are prosaic in style, but their compactness and rich language make them poetry. In Ommers skeletons play xylophone on their ribcages, God controls sandboxes, and books weep their own pages wet.

Geart Tigchelaar (1987) has won the D.A. Tamminga price for his first collection leech hert yn nij jek in 2017 and the Obe Postma Prize for his Bomans’ translation of Erik of it lyts ynsekteboek (Erik or the little insect book) in 2016. In 2018, his first novel Bêste Jonge was nominated for the Rink van der Velde price.
