Tresoar presents the spring story of nine Frisian ice rinks in the digital presentation Iisbaan yn ‘e maaitiid. From March 20 to May 24, 2021, the website will be filled with videos, paintings, photos, poems, tips and more. Follow the digital presentation on the Tresoar website, on Facebook and Instagram.

For the first time in years we were able to skate on natural ice again this winter. The ice rinks in Fryslân were filled with visitors who wanted to share in the skating fun. How will the ice rinks look when spring starts again, when the ice has melted and the water has drained away? Lonely and deserted now that it is no longer possible to skate?

No, they are used, and how! There is kaatsen, football and korfbal. Horses, cows and sheep graze on the piece of land. Crops are grown on it. And when ice rinks are deserted, they offer space for rest and reflection.

Paintings, pinhole photography, poetry and more

The paintings by Hendrik Elings, the black and white photos by Baukje Venema and the poems of eleven Frisian poets tell the spring story of nine Frisian ice rinks in an artistic and inspiring way. In a video serie, the artists and poets tell the stories and the audience is taken into the world of the ice rinks and into the world of the artists themselves. The artists and poets tell you what inspired them and how they work. In addition, they give you tips on how to get started with painting, photography and poetry yourself. Just before the May holidays there is also a DIY package ready for children to get creative with the theme Iisbaan yn ‘e maaitiid.

Selfie board

The mowing time with its rising temperatures and budding nature invites you to go out on your own. Walk or cycle to your own ice rink or to one nearby. How is it going? Is it being used for sports, is there cattle grazing or is it a wonderful, quiet place? Take a photo of it, share it with the hashtag #iisbaanynemaaitiid and who knows, you might inspire other villages and cities with your photo. Tresoar makes it even more fun for you and has placed a selfie board at nine ice rinks in Fryslân! At these ice rinks you can take a picture with the selfie board: Wijckel, Nijelamer, Bakkeveen, Burdaard, Sint Jacobiparochie, Aldtsjerk, Blessum, Munnikezijl and Hijum.
