Menagerie at Ferhalefjoer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n On October 1st, Ferhalefjoer returns to Brouwdok. At the border between water and land, between light and dark, we tell each other stories. The theme is timed just before Animal Day: Menagerie. Ferhalefjoer is the place for stories in Harlingen. Once a month, people come together to listen to stories and to tell them themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One Year of Stories in Harlingen<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In October 2026, it will be one year since ‘Ferhalefjoer \u2013 Place for Stories’ began in Harlingen. And with success. Every first Thursday, lovers of stories gather around a theme. Storytellers Baukje Koolhaas, Ingrid Halfhide, and Frank Belt open and close the evening with a story. In between, participants who wish can tell their own stories. At first, that sometimes happened hesitantly, but now there are always people who stand up and share a story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Power of Storytelling<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Storytelling is different from reading aloud. Storytelling has its own energy. The direct connection between storyteller, story, and audience creates a very unique atmosphere that Baukje, Frank, and Ingrid would love everyone to experience. “Stories connect people with each other,” says Frank. “And they really do that when you tell them from memory.” He adds that this is easier than some think. “Besides that, we don’t want to be a stage. We want to create a living room atmosphere together, so that the threshold to come, to listen, and to tell stories is as low as possible.” Proof of this is shown every time by the turnout and the reactions of visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Return to Brouwdok<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Now that it’s getting colder outside, Ferhalefjoer returns to where it started: Havenbrouwerij Het Brouwdok at Nieuwe Willemshaven in Harlingen. The living room atmosphere there fits perfectly with what Ferhalefjoer wants to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On Thursday, October 1st, anyone can join at 7:30 PM. The storytelling evening lasts approximately one hour. Admission is free. A voluntary contribution is welcome.
