Prior to the screening, Afghan-Dutch poet and feminist Tania Akefi will share how she views the film from her personal background and experiences. What does it mean for a woman to watch a film where themes such as masculinity, power, and the relationship between men and women are central?

After her introduction, Akefi will recite some of her poems in Dari. Naru, the only female camera operator at Kabul’s main television station, tries to retain custody of her three-year-old son. Since leaving her unfaithful husband, she—like most Afghan women—has become convinced that there are no good men in her country. So, Naru is surprised when Qodrat, Kabul TV’s leading journalist, offers her a career opportunity. As they travel across the city to cover the last days of freedom, sparks fly between them, and Naru begins to doubt her conviction.
