On October 11, the Gysbert Japicx Prize 2025 will be awarded to Elmar Kuiper for his poetry collection Ferlosboartsje. This will take place in the Martinikerk in Bolsward. During this festive occasion, the Lytse Gysbert Japicx Prize, the award for the best Frisian poem by primary school children, will also be presented to Alen Hrustic.
In the week leading up to the award ceremony, various literary activities will be held to celebrate the winner of the Gysbert Japicx Prize and their work. Tresoar collaborates with partners such as magazine De Moanne, Leeuwarden UNESCO City of Literature, Explore the North, the children’s book ambassador of Friesland, and cultural institution De Tiid.
The Gysbert Japicx Prize ceremony will include readings of prize winner Elmar Kuiper’s work at Mei-inoar lêze (reading together).
